I have always wanted a classic opel, right from my childhood. I have been in love with this car for months before I decided to buy it. It came from a friend of mine, who is a classic car collector (mainly Opels). The car has been restored a while ago, I am sure, as the body is just too good. Unfortunately some rust appeared already, but only on the edges and surfaces. The chassis is still perfect. Minor work needed. The bigger work will require cables. Loads of cables, as it still has a 45 year old electrical system. Brakes need to be renovated too, as well as suspension. Luckily the engine is sound, but even there I will have to renew seals, pipes and a lot of silly little things that will be so hard to get. The car otherwise is a first time starter. No smoke, no misfire whatsoever, I think I have been lucky with it. Must have been a grandad's love. God bless him. The interior is quite new, I won't touch that now - except for the top of the dash. That has been covered, I must take that all off so it looks original. First I will get the required tests done at the authorities, so it will be roadworthy, and better paintwork will come only after that. I want it to work properly as it is first, then I will decide on the final look. Until then I will polish the current paint on it. It needs bits of the interior, such as the horn ring from the steering wheel, some plates from the dashboard, and outside, the OPEL letters from the bonnet. There is a trim line on the offside rear door that is slightly damaged, but I have a brand new grille. That's it, I will try to keep you updated. Greg, near Budapest
